I think Gorgeous still gets food crammed up his nose hole. He has a tendency to push his food. He did that before his nosectomy. It used to get all crammed in his scabs when his nose was scabby, and then in his nose hole when he was healing from nosectomy.
I don’t ever see food in there anymore, but sometimes when when he sneezes I can smell it, and sometimes he sneezes out some food.
He still sneezes quite often, and has sneezing fits when he wakes up and sometimes when he starts to eat, sometimes just randomly. He was sneezy for quite some time before we figured out what was going on with him. Some of it was probably the cancer, but he had other issues including really bad teeth that caused it.
He’s not snotty now. Just sneezy. He tends to have a bloody nose a lot, and sometimes a runny nose. But, no snot now.
A couple of weeks ago he may have developed an upper respiratory infection. We tried Clavamox (antibiotic) and an antihistamine, and that resolved it. Bonzai was having the same issue. I should probably go over all that in a different post.
So, has anyone else with noseless kitties noticed this food issue? If so, have you found anything that helps with it?
We tried feeding on a flat plate or saucer, but he pushes the food off, and he still got it up his nose.
Probably no big deal in the scheme of things, but it would be nice if he didn’t have to deal with that annoyance.
